The Desert in Bloom

The Desert in Bloom

For most of the year this view would have consisted of a couple of bushes and a Cholla cactus, surrounded by a bit of scrub and some dead grass. In the spring however, especially if the spring is wet (like this one in the El Nino year of 1998), the desert annuals shoot and bloom in profusion. Literally millions of flowers, including golden Mexican and Californian Poppies, blue coloured Lupines, purple Owl Clover and others.
