Sempervivum

Sempervivum sp.

Sempervivums, commonly known as "House Leeks", are mountain species largely from Europe. As a consequence most are cold hardy and can be grown happily outside in rock gardens in the UK. There are many attractive rosette forms (including hybrids and cultivars) making for quite spectacular displays even when not in flower.

The plant pictured was part of the succulent plant display at the National Garden Festival, Gateshead 1990.
